Sarah Whatmore made headlines back in 2001 when she appeared on Pop Idol and refused Simon Cowell’s marriage proposal on national television. Although Sarah did not make it to the final, she was offered a management and recording deal with Simon Fuller’s company, 19. Two singles were released, both reaching very respectable chart positions–”When I Lost You” (number 6) and “Automatic” (number 11). Then, unsure about the direction her career was going at that time, Sarah took the bold decision not to release her debut album choosing instead to concentrate on her writing. Time To Think is the long awaited first album from Sarah and includes singles “Smile” and “Redefined”.

The effort was announced on Johnson’s personal website as renovation began for the release of the album.
This more political album was played live for the first time at the BBC in December for a select number of fans. It has been reviewed by music critics around the world to mostly unenthusiastic reception. The album received mixed reviews from critics.

The first single, “If I Had Eyes”, was released via Johnson’s MySpace page on December 17, 2007. The second single from the album was Hope and was released on May and peaked at number #30 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks.

The album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling about 375,000 copies in its first week, including 139,000 digital downloads. It held the record at iTunes for most digital downloads in a single day, until Coldplay’s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends set a new record.

Sleep Through the Static remained at number one on the Billboard 200 in its second week of release, by which time it had sold over 180,000 copies, as well as its third week, in which it sold 105,000 copies.] It fell from the number one spot in its fourth week, in which it placed third with about 92,000 copies sold.

Black Ice is the 15th studio album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC, produced by Brendan O’Brien and released worldwide between October 17 and 22, 2008. AC/DC were known to be working on the album as early as January 2006, with it being delayed because of an injury to bassist Cliff Williams and a change of record labels to Sony Music, and in turn Columbia Records.

The album is their longest to date, with the band having recorded it in The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, Canada, the same studio as their previous album Stiff Upper Lip. It is their first album since the release of Stiff Upper Lip in 2000, the longest gap between two AC/DC studio albums to date.

Black Ice sold around 1,762,000 units in its first week, shipping 5,000,000 copies worldwide. The album went number one in 29 different countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom and United States. In its first week, it sold 784,000 copies in the US alone, with it receiving a three times platinum certification in Australia and selling upwards of 110,000 in the UK. The band’s 15th effort has been heralded as “the biggest debut ever by a mainstream hard rock album.”

4:13 Dream is the thirteenth studio album by English rock band The Cure. After failing to meet several release dates, the album was released on 28 October 2008 by Geffen Records.

The thirteenth studio album by The Cure was originally intended to be a double album, however frontman Robert Smith confirmed in recent interviews that this idea was scrapped, despite the fact that 33 songs have been recorded. Some songs featured on the album were recycled from earlier album sessions. An example is “Sleep When I’m Dead” which was originally written for the band’s 1985 album The Head on the Door, and “A Boy I Never Knew”, a re-recording of an unreleased song from 2004’s The Cure. Smith attested that the album would mostly comprise the upbeat songs the band recorded, while the darker songs may be released on another album.
