The Green Album is the eleventh studio album by Kottonmouth Kings. Released in 2008, the album peaked at #5 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart, and #42 on the Billboard 200.[1] Allmusic reviewer David Jeffries wrote that “If you haven’t figured it out from the album’s title, the song titles, or even the band’s name, The Green Album is a pro-weed album from aging cottage industry insiders known as the Kottonmouth Kings. [...] [The album] finds them a bit more out of touch with what’s happening in the rest of the music world.”

The album is Q-Tip’s second released studio effort, following the unreleased but critically acclaimed Kamaal the Abstract, initially planned for release in 2002. Production for The Renaissance was entirely handled by Q-Tip with the exception of one track produced by the late hip hop producer J Dilla, while the album also features contributions from such artists as Norah Jones, D’Angelo, Raphael Saadiq and Amanda Diva.[1] The album cover art features Q-Tip in a silver suit holding an MPC2000XL in front of his face.

Following Q-Tip’s nine year hiatus from releasing studio material on a label, The Renaissance was greeted with very positive reviews and critical praise from several music publication outlets.[2][3] A music video has been made for the single “Move” and there’s also a remix to “Gettin’ Up” featuring Eve produced by Swizz Beatz.

The album debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Top 200, selling 34,219 copies in its first week.

Swan Songs is the first album by the band Hollywood Undead. The album was released on September 2, 2008.[1] The album was released with a bonus track and an option to unlock a music video when purchased on Amazon.com[1] and at some select online retailers. “Undead”, the first track on the album appears on the soundtrack of the video game Madden NFL 09.[2] “Everywhere I Go”, the third track from the album was the first single to be released. It was a web single and was available for download only on iTunes.[2] The band released two official videos for two songs on the album, “No.5″ and “Undead” and both videos were directed by the director Jonas Åkerlund.

The album name “Swan Songs” represents the last song a swan sings before it dies. The band chose that name because it reflected on the lifetime of the band and the fact that if the band broke up after releasing this album, then this album would be a fitting “Swan Song” for them. This album was supposed to be released on their first label, Myspace Records in 2007 but it got postponed by the record label when the label wanted them to remove some songs and censor some others but they declined. The band switched labels to a label who woudn’t require them to censor their songs. The album peaked at #22 on the Billboard 200 and sold 21,000 copies in its debut week.

Year of the Gentleman was named in honor of Ne-Yo’s artistic influences. Ne-Yo cited the 1960s American group Rat Pack, particularly members Sammy Davis, Jr. and Frank Sinatra as influences, whose style inspired his clothes and music. Explaining the album’s title, he said he was “trying to take it back to where you couldn’t walk out of the house unless you looked your best”.[7] Commenting on the likes of the Rat Pack and Nat King Cole he commented that “they’re suited and everything is right from top to bottom. Not saying it has to be a suit, ’cause clothes don’t make the man — it’s the attitude and person. The music needs to personify that.”. No featurings are present on the album, as previously announced, though “Single” also features as a version with New Kids on the Block on their album, The Block.

Although Ne-Yo has claimed that he wanted to “take a different direction” on the album by not making R&B sounds, however, according to Billboard magazine, “it seems he still has a heavy—yet welcome—case of the (rhythm and) blues on the finished product”.

Reviews for the album have been generally positive. Rolling Stone said “The 28-year-old singer-songwriter says his latest collection of heartfelt love songs is a tribute to the Rat Pack’s pressed-suit style, but it’s actually a superb concept album about what a great boyfriend he can be.

Year of the Gentleman debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 with 250,000 copies sold. The album debuted at #2 on the UK Albums Chart, giving Ne-Yo his highest charting album in the UK beating “Because of You” which debuted at #6 in 2007. In Japan the album met great success charting at #1, with 62,000 copies sold in it’s first week.

Nelly has a range of featured guests lined up for Brass Knuckles, with appearances from Akon, Ashanti, Avery Storm, Chuck D, Ciara, Fergie, Gucci Mane, Jermaine Dupri, Keri Hilson, LL Cool J, Nate Dogg, Pharrell Williams, R. Kelly, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, St. Lunatics, T.I. and Usher. Jermaine Dupri also stated possibilities of hopeful collaborations with Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson.[2][8] Dupri gave a look into the two collaborations, one being Nelly, Carey and Jackson all appearing on the same track, in which he stated Nelly has laid the following blueprint:

Nelly’s got a crazy collaboration he’s trying to put together, which is him, Janet and Mariah Carey all on one song…That’s what he wants. If he could convince them to do it, it would be crazy. He wants Janet to rap a 16-bar verse, he wants Mariah to sing the hook and he’s gonna do two verses. He has it all planned out. You ask him about it! This is what he wants; he’s 100-percent deadlocked into it.

He went on to speak about the possibility of the Springsteen collaboration and that two of his own tracks will appear on the album,

I think he’s doing a record with Bruce Springsteen. You know he always has to do one of those! My two records [that J.D. has produced for Nelly so far], he’s gonna have some people on them—I won’t tell it yet. I don’t want to jinx the record.

Nelly was unable to collaborate with Springsteen but he is still hopeful to collaborate with him on a future album, or even a repackage of Brass Knuckles.

The Quilt will be the fourth album by Gym Class Heroes released by Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance. The album will be released on September 9, 2008. Frontman Travis McCoy told MTV, “This is me reaching out right now, but we’re hoping to get Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys on the record, Daryl Hall on the record. And we’re looking forward to writing a couple of songs with Ne-Yo. We got to be good friends with him through the VMAs (MTV Video Music Awards).

The band has recorded some tracks with producers Cool & Dre as well as Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne. They revealed that the song will make a good kind of surprise. “It’s just gonna be a real, real solid record. The demos we have now are just bananas,” McCoy added. “(Guitarist) Disashi is just a monster on the new stuff.
